London - Old Battersea House, Enfilade
Forbes commissioned Creswell watercolors of these
Battersea rooms because the artist uniquely possesses
the skill to produce masterworks of the genre. He must
have felt that Creswell was spiritually connected to these
spaces, to the complexity of the objects, furniture and
art that would be represented in the watercolors. The
works record for posterity what were charming interiors.
But more so, they commemorate the environment into
which Malcolm and his son Kippy so sensitively and expertly reimagined the historic position of British Victorian
art.
