There is a quality of reverse painting on glass about
them, the individual looking at the self through a glass.
They are like memories of an imagined or romantically
remembered past, as is evoked by Landscape With a
Boat. They are mythical stage sets, chapters in a life,
worthy of royal theatricals at Versailles, such as Landscape With a Man Running a work that seems almost
like a maquette.
In both early works and works subsequent to the ���What
of the Night?��� series, Jacobi fills her canvases with refulgent color, both strong and muted, but with ne���er a
