Kolonaki: One of the most chic, prosperous and vibrant areas in the city
center.
Syntagma:
Constitution square, the center point of Athens, where
Parliament is located; has been the area of public demonstrations at times
but nevertheless remains intact and intriguing. Known for its metropolitan
vibe with many restaurants, bars and shops.
Plaka/Acropoli: The old part of Athens. A haven from the modern city.
Maroussi: New business district and one of Athens��� northern suburbs.
Gkazi: Full of bars. Roam in Soho London-like liberal area.
Keramikos:
An up and coming neighborhood, going through urban
gentrification, get there by cab and with a fixed destination in mind!
Monastiraki: Street Market close to Plaka.
Vouliagmeni: South Beach of Athens, beautiful for when the weather is
good. Young and hip. Great for a swim and early dinner.
Peristeri/Bournazi: A vibrant and healthy local community.
Pangkrati: Near center, middle-class area, nondescript buildings.
Varkiza: Southern suburb on the outskirts of outer Athens.
Kefalari: A predominantly residential suburban area in the north of Athens.
You will find beautiful old stone villas, a shopping area, a few bars and clubs
and lots of old trees and greenery. Very neighbourhood-y.
